Professional Career
Doug May was President and Chief Executive Officer of RVI. Previously, he was President of CNA Risk Management, the large commercial account arm of Chicago-based CNA which wrote more than $1 billion in premiums. Doug joined CNA in 1994 and held several specialty group leadership roles. During more than 30 years in the insurance industry, he held positions with AIG in various domestic and international P & C operations, and at the Home Insurance Company. He graduated from Syracuse University School of Management with a B.S. in Finance and Accounting.

Douglas Heller May
January 18, 1956 – October 22, 2021 in Flower Hill, NY.
Beloved husband of Anne (Gaynor) for 34 years. Adoring father of Elizabeth Ryan (Andrew). Future grandfather of a baby boy due this Spring. Pre-deceased by proud parents Helen (Payn) and George W. May II and best big brother George W. III. Loving brother of Derrice and Marshall (Tina). Proud uncle of John, Nicholas and Cristiana. Cherished cousin of the Payn, Congdon and Caldwell families.
Doug’s facility with numbers, calm management style and inspired leadership yielded a long career in the insurance industry. He held senior management positions at AIG, CNA and The Home Insurance Company, retiring as CEO of RVI Group in Stamford, CT.
Born and raised in Plainfield, NJ, Doug graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall and Syracuse University. An expert skier and accomplished sailor, he often steered us down foggy mountains and through howling squalls with confidence, skill and infectious enthusiasm. Doug never shied away from a competitive game of cards, backgammon or pool, often besting all comers in the friendliest way possible. Doug was a long standing member of The Creek Club and a past President of The Cold Spring Harbor Beach Club.
